Basuki Abdullah and Raden Saleh Paintings Recovered (Oct 1996)
In an incident widely reported in the international press (including Asiaweek) in October 1996, the firm acted for undisclosed clients in negotiating the return of Raden Saleh's Portrait Of A Dutch Governor Wearing The Willems Order dated 1867 and Basoeki Abdullah's undated work A Nude to the Indonesian Government after the paintings were discovered (unknown to our clients) to have been stolen from the Indonesian National Museum.
Raden's portrait was priced between S$100,000 and S$150,000, and A Nude was estimated to be worth between S$8,000 and S$12,000.
