Inaugural Biennial Lecture of the Law Society Of Singapore

The Inaugural Biennial Lecture of the Law Society of Singapore will be held on 6 July 2007 at the Supreme Court Auditorium. The lecture by Professor Irwin Cotler is titled "Pursuing Justice and Confronting Injustice: Lawyers Can Make a Difference".

Professor Irwin Cotler, an internationally renowned human rights lawyer was counsel to former prisoners of conscience, including Nelson Mandela in South Africa, Jacobo Timmerman in Latin America, and Muchtar Pakpahan in Asia.

Professor Cotler will share his views on the importance of constitutionalism of rights; the independence of the judiciary; terrorism and human rights; the protection of the vulnerable; combating hatred and intolerance; and confronting international injustice and impunity.
