National Wage Council for 2006/ 2007 invites views on Wage Guidelines
Posted on Monday, April 03, 2006 - 10:00 AM
The National Wages Council (NWC) chaired by Prof Lim Pin, Professor of Medicine at the National University of Singapore, will commence its deliberations on wage and wage-related guidelines for 2006/ 2007 in mid-April 2006. To assist the NWC in its deliberations, members of the public and organisations are invited to offer their views on the wage guidelines.
2 In its deliberations, the NWC will take into consideration relevant factors such as global and regional economic performance and outlook, Singapore's cost competitiveness vis-à-vis competitor countries, labour market conditions, productivity, and rewards to workers for their contribution.
3 Members of the public and organisations are encouraged to provide feedback on how companies can move from a seniority-based wage system to a performance-based one, so as to enhance the employability of older workers. The NWC would also like to receive suggestions on how to encourage more companies to implement flexible wage systems, which is timely in light of the positive economic outlook. Views on the wage guidelines for 2006/ 2007 and related topics can be forwarded to the Secretary of the NWC at the following addresses by Monday, 17 April 2006.
