Posted on Sunday, April 03, 2005 - 06:40 PM

The Singapore Department of Statistics on 1st April 2005 announced the release of the publication, Singapore Standard Industrial Classification (SSIC) 2005.
The Singapore Standard Industrial Classification (SSIC) 2005 provides a common framework for classifying economic activities in Singapore. It adopts the basic framework and principles of the United Nations’ International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities (ISIC), Fourth Revision. The SSIC is updated regularly to reflect significant changes in the structure of the Singapore economy and the emergence of new activities.

This publication is the ninth edition of the SSIC and supersedes previous editions. It describes the nature and principles as well as the structure of the classification. Brief descriptions of the groups and an alphabetical index are included to facilitate understanding and use of the classification.
